    Connections

    Some thoughts about connections……..

In my own belief system…I do believe Everyone is connected…in every way…

Physiologically and scientifically by the genetics from which we all are derived, best described in the work of the current Genographic project at National Geographic.  From what science can illuminate at the present time we all come from “Mitochondrial Eve” and “Eurasian Adam”.  I am descended from Eurasian Adam via Haplogroup R1a1 on my Father’s side and Mitochondrial Eve via Haplogroup H on my Mother’s side…fascinating stuff…and very connected does it show us all to be.

Psychologically and intellectually we are connected by the traditions, teachings, interaction and environmental influences in our lives.

Physically we are connected by the senses we utilize in the contact we have with our tangible environment…even down to the connection that we all breathe the same air our ancestors breathed…and our descendants will breathe…a deep connection to be sure…the ultimate recycling.

Emotionally we are connected by the feelings we allow each other to experience and those feelings that are involuntary…emotion…the most powerful of the intangibles.

I also believe the energy…the real energy that exists in all of us and surrounds us all…connects us in a more powerful way than we can comprehend at this point in our evolution.  An example is an experiment I conducted almost 15 years ago while camping with friends.  There were 5 of us huddled in a small tent due to a rainstorm.  I began to meditate, eyes closed and focus my own energy…and I would ‘push’ my energy in the direction of one of my friends to gauge any reaction.  To my surprise each time I did this the recipient of my ‘energy push’ would move or change position and I was able to do this over and over again for a couple of hours.  No true scientific experiment, to be sure, but it gave me my own proof that this energy connection between us exists.

Our children…our future…they are the most important and yet most often forgotten…their importance to our own growth and development.  The most basic connection in all of humanity…the fact all young are blessed with being ‘round’…because it strikes the basic chord within all of us…to see a small round head…the large round eyes…a baby in nature…any species….their ‘roundness’ connects to our basic instinct to protect, nurture and love.  Yet, so often children are denied what is their birthright…to be protected…to be nurtured…to be loved.  To be taught to love, to nurture, and to protect.  To continue what they learn…to make the next generation better…more loving, more nurturing, more protective.  To eliminate war, hatred, inequality…it is possible and requires diligence.

My children were created by my family and friends…and people I do not know…all over the world…and of my children that touched my hand or heard my laughter or saw my smile…those children know Fatherly love from me…those children know what I believe is wrong and right…those children know that war and hate are wrong…that love is right…that kindness forgives…that understanding evolves.

There is no way to survive without change…everyone must feel the connection and live for each other and help their neighbor and feed the hungry and nurture the sick.  No expectations…only unconditional acceptance of the energy that ties us all to one another and the understanding of its importance to our survival.
